Exploring Madrid after dark

Each day I was in Madrid, I tried to take at least a few shots after sunset. I only managed to take a few, as I was quite tired after a whole day of walking :).

This photo was combined using Photomatix and also Oloneo Photo engine. What I have noticed is, that Oloneo is really great when you have some very dark areas in your photo. It creates much less artifacts in the final result. I used it for the sky in this shot.

Small details

With a camera, which has custom modes, I finally can quickly switch between HDR and non-HDR photos, without having to play with camera settings. What I really like is shots of small details in the scene, with a very shallow DOF. For now I have only a F2.8 lens, but already that makes a very nice blurry background. So here is one of those photos, a detail of love locks on the bridge in my daily photo :)

The big 10

or one of the old bridges in Toledo (I couldn’t find how it’s called). I of course couldn’t resist not to go under the bridge to take few shots. The water was really calm that day, giving me this perfect reflection :)

Morning in Toledo

You can see every megapixel of the new camera here. The detail is stunning. The bigger you see this photo, the better it looks :)

Promote Control remote

I just ordered the Promote Control remote. Exactly because of photos, like the one today. Somehow the more I shoot, the more I have situations where 3 brackets is not enough. I usually go with three at -2,0,+2 and three at -1,+1 and +3, but this helps only sometimes, and you still cant go over 30 seconds. And here is where the Promote comes into play, giving you the ability to take much more brackets (up to 45). I was thinking about it a long time ago, but I wanted to wait for a new camera first. And now’s the time. Let’s see if the increased number of brackets will be visible on my photos :)

Night in Madrid

I don’t really like when the sky is absolutely black in a photo, but I had no other option here. As I only took three shots, the brightest one was not bright enough. My mistake. It’s always better to take more bracket and don’t need them, than taking less and missing them.

Classic shot in the Segovia Cathedral

This really is a classic composition for a place like this :). I just could resist to also have a photo like this. I took this shot in the cloister of the Segovia Cathedral in Segovia. I wanted to try few different composition, but few seconds after I took this shot, I was asked to stop using my tripod, and the security guard started walking around, interfering with my shots. Probably he thought I will destroy the stone floor tiles with the rubber feet of my tripod :) But either way, I’m happy with this shot.
