It was quite cold yesterday in Bratislava, but not snowing and almost no wind. So I just could not let it be, and went out to take some nice winter panorama shots. On the right you can see my panorama setup. The camera is actually on the other side of the cables, hanging over the bridge :)
And the daily photos is a 6 tile panorama, each tile from 4 shots (I took 6, but in the end I used only 4). The result was a 92Mpix image :) And so I can show you also all the amazing detail, a photo this big had, there is a new feature on this blog. Open the full post by clicking the title or “view full post” under the photo, to view a zoomable version of the photo :). I suggest switching to full-screen while viewing it (first button from right under the photo).

Details at 100% is amazing. Nice idea about putting this zoomable widget.
It’s not really 100% :) .. only around 60-70%.. I had to leave out 100% for now.. as it’s hosted on the same place as the blog, and I wan to limit the bandwidth.
Very nice pano Miroslav.
Few quick questions if you don’t mind.
How fast do you have to move during the blue hour to get all your brackets in, so the colors stay as close together as possible?
Also are you still using the Magic Lantern for your bracketing (I initially found your website through your YouTube ML tutorial)?
What is the pano head you are using? Is that the Nodal Ninja by any chance? I have the 5DMk II and eventually would like to get an affordable pano head.
Great photos and processing, keep up the great job.
Hi Paul.. thank you and I don’t mind. Answers to your questions are: you have to move as fast as you can, which is a little hard when you have to do long exposures. But still you will get some color differences, but a nice gradient in Lightroom can correct this. I am still using ML, just added a wireless remote to it, as it’s better not to touch the camera at all. And it is the Nodal Ninja 4. It’s a really nice head, just a little heavy. If you are only interested in single row panos, I would maybe suggest a L-bracket + a nodal slider. Not so heavy and does the job.
I’m thinking of starting out with the single row. The few I tried were usually hand held, which works but it’s not ideal. Any nodal slider you recommend for a 5DMkII and the 24-105 combo?
Can’t really recommend one.. as I don’t have one. But based on what tripod you use.. try looking at the manufacturer, if they have something.
