Sometime today I should be back home, so hopefully from tomorrow there will be some new photos from Slovenia here (I’m writing this few days before, as I don’t carry a pc with me when I travel). So until then, here is another photo from London.

This is a manual blend from 5 shots combined with HDR created in Oloneo Photoengine (I used parts of the buildings from the HDR)
Around the Shard

Another Tuesday, another process post. Today I chosen one where I did only a little edit, as I liked the photo quite a lot.

So to get this final photo:
Tunnel reflection in Birmingham

I fist imported the photos into Lightroom, cropped the image and corrected the white balance. Then I exported all the files into layers in Photoshop. There I did the following edits (numbered from bottom up)

1. 0EV exposure
2+3. -1EV and -2EV exposure to darken the middle part of the photo
4+5. +1EV and +2EV exposure to brighten the bricks of the tunel
6. added detail using the high pass filter
7. added contrast to the basic mid-tones (mask created using TK actions)
8. color balance for the center part, as it was too blue
9. curves adjustment for the center part, as it needed more contrast
10. added glow (check out my glow tutorial)

and that’s all. As you see, not every image needs a ton of layers :)
Continue to the full post to see the original 0EV exposure.

It’s quite interesting how the blue light from the blue hour mixed with all the yellow light from the lamps to create this green color on the water. Physics in action :)

This is a manual blend from 6 shots.

Travel photos

Always when I’m traveling I post a lot of behind the camera photos onto my FB page, so feel free to stop by at https://www.facebook.com/hdrshooter. If all goes as planed, I should be somewhere on the Ljubljana castle right now :)

Calm waters

The only way to get a calm Danube, is to go out shooting very early in the morning (and a long exposure also helps a little :)). Same here in Budapest. There are absolutely no ships on the Danube around the sunrise and with a calm water as this, you will also get very nice reflection.

This is a HDR created from 7 shots created in Oloneo Photoengine and finished in Photoshop.

500px3

Back on the 1st page of 500px

It’s always so nice to get on the front page of Flickr or 500px. Really a great way to approach new people who never seen my photos. And the Sunrise at the bridge photo got there yesterday.

Looking from the castle

The Aggstein castle ruins in Austria are really high up. This is taken from there, but I had to zoom in quite a lot (150mm) as normally you would not even see the ship :) Really great that you can get up there with a car and don’t have to walk that much. If you are in the area, it’s great for a visit, even if just for the view.

This is a manual blend from 3 shots, edited in Photoshop.
