Today, I stopped by the lighthouse by the Neusidlresee in Austria for a hour, and while it was raining some of the time, I managed to snap a few shots. And as it’s off season right now, I was lucky to be there alone most of the time, so nobody to remove from the photos. It really does save one a lot of work :)

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

All in blue

Technique: Photoshop Edit, Number of exposures: 1, Camera Model: Sony a7R + Metabones MkIII Adapter, Lens: Canon 16-35mm F2.8, Focal length: 31mm, Aperture: 11, Middle exposure time: 30s, ISO: 100, Tripod used: yes, Location: 47.860540, 16.827174

I took a little trip to Vienna today, and one of the spots I visited was also the Leopoldsberg hill above it. So this is one of the photos I took from there. It really gives a great look of the Danube and all the bridges on it. It’s quite far away form the city, so even this view was taken at around 200mm. I ended up going with a panorama here, as the sky was a bit boring, and so did the foreground. I was also quite pleased how sharp the photo still was even in quite windy conditions. I was probably just lucky :)

So as mentioned, this is a two shots panorama, no HDR here, I used Lightroom to merge the two exposures into a panorama, and then I finished the photo in Photoshop.

Bridges over Danube

Technique: Photoshop Edit, Number of exposures: 2, Camera Model: Sony a7R + Metabones MkIII Adapter, Lens: Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS II, Focal length: 150mm, Aperture: 8, Middle exposure time: 8s, ISO: 100, Tripod used: yes, Location: 48.278003, 16.347291

It’s really crazy how different the mountains look below and above the clouds. And it was even crazier to go up these mountains. As this is from the Grossglockner Alpine road, it was a car trip. And one could perfectly see the moment one got above the clouds, as it was a bit more cloudy than in this photo, and in few seconds the view changed from a great valley into a dense white wall covering everything :)

This is mostly a single exposure edited in Photoshop, with few spots brightened up from a second exposure.

Ruins in Spitz

Technique: Photoshop Edit, Number of exposures: 2, Camera Model: Sony a7R + Metabones MkIII Adapter, Lens: Canon 16-35mm F2.8, Focal length: 16mm, Aperture: 14, Middle exposure time: 1/125s, ISO: 100, Tripod used: yes, Location: 47.121260, 12.820338

A busier day today as I hoped and while I hoped to take some new shots, I ended up with none. So today just a quick repost of one of my videos, on how to take multiple brackets on the Sony a7R (and similar cameras).

For today, I chosen a photo I took of the entrance of the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. I would have really like to do a more lower view, showing the whole entrance here, but it was never empty. So instead, I looked more up, and focused more on the details on the wall. They really look wonderful.

This is a HDR from 6 exposures, created in Oloneo Photoengine, finished in Photoshop. I needed so many exposures, as the outside wall was very dimly lit compared to the inside.
