Off to Netherlands

I’m off to Netherlands for few days, for a work trip. So there will be no updates for few days, but I be back soon :)

Flying over the Dubai Marina

And sing I’m flying today, how about a photo taken while flying. While in Dubai I did a tandem paramotor flight (I was not the one driving :)), and was able to get some photos while doing so. Not that I’m that happy with the photos, as I got some strange focusing issues, there are still few nice ones.

Here is one, taken right as we were flying over the tallest block in the world. Crazy how high one has to go to get above it :)

Glow of the Atlantis in Dubai

As most of my photos are wide angle, it’s nice to have one telephoto here and there. And this is one of those. I zoomed in my 70-200mm lens as much as I could, to get a view of the Atlantis hotel on the Palm Jumeirah. Still, it was not enough to get it to fill up a whole photo. It is quite far away from the mainland.

I had some issues here with the editing, as the lights next to it are just crazy strong, creating quite a lot of glow in the sky. And with this photo being taken quite late at night, it created a lot of color banding. But with added noise and reduced contrast, it somehow worded out in the end. You can see my article on color banding here.

This is a blend of two exposures, done in Photoshop.

One more reflection

This photo is exactly from the same spot as the one I posted yesterday, with also the editing I done being the same. The view from this spot of the Palm Jumeirah is really nice, one would just need a bit more luck for clear weather, as the city is really not that close. The haze on the horizon makes a bit hard to see so far away.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Dubai Internet city

One more evening shot, taken from the Palm Jumeirah. The Dubai Internet city is quite a new area close to it, and from the palm you get a nice view of it. And with a bit of Photoshop help, you will also have a nice reflection :) If you want to know the spot, this is taken from the right end of the palm, from this spot to be exact.

This is a two shot blend, done in Photoshop. I used a second shot only to darken the bright light on the towers a bit. Then I did a reflection, and you can see a guide on how to do it here.

Night view of the Burj Al Arab

You may have noticed that most of my recent Dubai shot are night one. The reasons here are multiple, but mostly two. During the day, the weather was crazy sunny, with a lot of haze, which did not really work well for photos. On the other hand, the sunrise and especially blue hours were crazy short, in the range of 15 minutes only. Really hard to get many shots, if you do around 30s exposures. But since Dubai is so lit up, you can take photos during the whole night anyway :)

For today’s photo I zoomed in all the way while taking photos of Palm Jumeirah (the panorama I posted few days ago) while looking to the right. I wanted to include more of the city here, but was not able to extent the camera out enough from the balcony, to not see the wall of the skyscraper I was taking photos from.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.
