More photo prints available

I have been adding more photos into the shop gallery recently. Mostly very high resolution photos and panoramas, as I think those look the best.

So as always, you can go to the Shop gallery here, and check them out. Not only prints, but also downloads for personal and commercial use are available in the shop. Also, if you are interested in any other photo, that is not available there, feel free to message me using the contact form here.

Autumn colors reflection

By a coincidence, today’s photo is another long exposure. Even if it does not really look like it is. I took a photo at the Strbske Pleso lake in High Tatras, Slovakia. It was a bit windy day, so there were ripples in the water. To get around it, I used a 10 stop ND filter, to lengthen the exposure. This time I used the VFFOTO 10 stop circular filter, as when using the 70-200mm lens, it’s just easier to use one of these than a square filter. You can find my review of this filter here.

For this photo I used a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Shortcut changes in Photoshop

I really wonder why they did it. After years and years they changed how some shortcuts work in Photoshop. For instance the undo shortcut now works completely opposite to how it worked before. Will this help anyone who already uses Photoshop for years? No. Will it help anyone who just started using it? No. They just confuse people needlessly. Good work Adobe.

And yes, I know you can switch back. But that does not solve a confusion where two people can uses the same commands with different shortcuts.

Passing clouds over Astana

Due to the weather I did not have time to take that many long exposure shots while in Astana. You just can’t use a filter when it rains. But the last day I had a bit of time and went to a great spot in the city center. Since the passing clouds moved quite quickly, it was a perfect time to do some long exposure shots.

For this one I used the 10 stop Formatt-Hittech firecrest filter, on a NISI filter holder, on the 12mm Laowa lens. Still, to get a long enough exposure, I needed to get down to ISO 50. I ended up using 60 seconds here.

The final photo is done from 2 exposures, one at 60s with the filter and one at 4s. Edited in Lightroom, blended together in Photoshop.

SNP bridge light beams

The restaurant at the top of the SNP bridge (or still refereed to as the New bridge) is called UFO. Quite the obvious name, as it looks a bit like a flying saucer. And during the White night event, with all the light beams coming from it, it looked like a UFO even more.

I ended up using 6 exposures here. Since there were people walking by I took two sets of 5 exposures, to have enough to be able to remove them from the final photo. I also did from -3 to +1 EV as the bridge was quite brighter in comparison to the surrounding area. I then combined 5 exposures into a HDR in Oloneo Photoengine and then blended that with the original exposures in Photoshop.

Night in Astana

Still have some edited photos of Astana in Kazakhstan, that I have not posted yet here. So here you have another one, taken in the middle of the city.

As in many others I have the Bayterek tower in this shot, and as in other, it was quite a pain to blend it together. That’s actually the reason I even started with HDR in the first place. Being able to get nice photos where normally you would get over or underexposed parts, is just so great.

This is a three shot blend, done in Photoshop.

Sunny path towards the Eiffel tower

Let’s stop in Paris with today’s photo. This is another vertorama I took from right under the Eiffel tower there, while trying to not have many people in the shot. It’s surprisingly possible :)

You may notice, there still is quite a strong perspective distortion here. I corrected it, but only partially. The problem is, that if something is really tall, and you are taking a photo from close by, the corrected view just looks strange. We are so used to see some distortion in cases like this, that we just expect it to be there. I did try a version where I corrected it completely, but I really did not like it.

This is a two shot vertorama, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop. Photo taken in the early spring.
