Lights under the Eiffel Tower

While the occasion why the Eiffel Tower was lit up in these colors was a sad one (this photo is from 2016, right after the bomb explosions in Belgium), the way the lit it up was interesting. I always thought, they just use the lights that are already built into the tower and just change the color. But on this occasion, I saw it working differently. Instead, they had a setup of lights right in front of the tower. They used them to give the top of the tower the red color. If you look closely into this photo, you can see the red lights shining from the bottom, right under the tower.

This is a two shot panorama, each shot from a single exposure. Combined and edited in Photoshop. I had a lot of lens flares here, as there were a lot of street lamps closeby and it’s really hard to shade the 17mm TSE lens. I also had quite the problems with color banding here and while I managed to remove a lot of it, maybe there wills till be some in the sky. It just did not want to go away, and I did not want to replace the whole sky just because of it.

Crossing the bridge in Barca De Alva

After all those busy photos recently, here is a very simple one. This photo is from the small town of Barca De Alva in Portugal, on the border with Spain. I was staying there one evening on a ship, and since we were standing right next to this bridge, I also went onto it for a few photos. Since there were no clouds, I tried not to include that much of the sky, but more of the bridge. That’s why I went with a vertorama here, to capture more of the road, so pulling the viewer eyes into the photo.

Summer panorama of Zadar

I don’t really have many photos from Zadar. Zadar is a city in Croatia, which I visited with my friends last year, but as it was still in the summer, it was not really great for photos. It was great to go into the sea and relax, but not for photos. When it’s crazy hot, I’m not really in the mood to walk around with a camera bag. And the huge amount of tourists around is also not helping. But even so, I took a few photos, either early in the morning or views where you can’t really see all the people. And this one is from the second category.

This photo is the view from the Bell tower in the middle of the old town. You can walk up if you pay an entrance fee. There is not that much space and it’s usually full, but if your tripod is high enough, you can prop it against the side walls. This photo is a 3 shot panorama, each shot from 5 exposures. I did not really need all of them for most of the photo, just right in the middle, there are very bright shop lights. And getting rid of those required so many exposures.

A very busy fireworks photo

I don’t really like when a photo is soo busy. There is just too much going on and you don’t know what to focus your eyes on. But since I chochen the spot to take the shot from over the city, of course that’s how it turned out.

This is another shot from the St. Stephens day fireworks last week. This one is a single exposure, split into two and then blended back together in Photoshop.
