Lit up reflection in Porto

When the weather does not play along, the blue hour always makes for nice photo. Even if you have zero clouds during the day, and it’s crazy hot, you just have to wait until the eveing when the lights come on. Then, you can get a nice photo. If you have a tripod that is. I would not try evening and night photos from hand.

This is a photo taken in Porto Portugal one summer evening. Not really sure how it was edited, as I did that a while ago, but I think I used Oloneo Photoengine here, and finished it in Photoshop.

Busy evening on the Charles Bridge

Continuing with photos from my past travels, here is one taken from the top of one of the Charles bridge towers. If you ever been there, you would know that the walkway on top is quite narrow and you have to take photos through holes in the walls. Not really an easy spot to set up a tripod. And even if you do, each time somebody wants to pass by, you have to move to the side. Looks like the builder’s hundreds years ago did not have photographers in mind at all :)

But it’s a good sunset spot, as the sun sets behind the castle hill most of the year. This is a three shot blend, done in Photoshop.

Evening reflection in Birmingham

Have you watched the Microsoft event today? It was quite interesting. Nice to see where computing is going. I still have the Surface Pro 4 I got when it came out, and I still don’t feel that I need to upgrade it. But maybe one of the new devices next year will be the ones that tempt me to upgrade.

Let’s stay in the UK with another photo, this time one taken at the canals in Birmingham. Most people don’t even know, but there are more canals in Birmingham than in Venice. But the city is also a bit bigger. Still, they make for coll reflection.

This is a three exposure blend, done in Photoshop.

Forth rail bridge

I really like bridges and that why I probably take so many photos with them. This is one of my favorites. The Forth rail bridge near Edinburgh in Scotland just look so massive. In comparison to the other modern bridges, this one is huge.

This is a bit older photo. Ok, maybe not a bit, as it was taken in 2013, when I did a short trip to the UK. I have many photos like that. Ones I took but I did not edit or post, as I did not like the results. Now, when I go back to those photos, I can edit them now, and I get a result I like right away. Not that it works with every photo. Looking at some composition I did and some settings I used, I really wonder what I was thinking at that time. They are just horrible.

This is a three shot blend, done in Photoshop. This is not a panorama, this is a cropped down photo.
