Flickr Explore

Finally after more than a year on Flickr, one of my photos got into their Explore selection :). The photo County Session House reached #173 on April 25 :)

Modern Colosseum

This stadium is big, really big :). This is the Strahov stadium in Prague. I really would like to see how they did the COKY! graffiti on it, as it’s quite hight :)

St. Vitus Cathedral reflection

Next one from Prague :). It was actually funny, looking at all the tourists around me, trying to take the same photo using a compact camera, usually also using flash :). I also think my best shots from Prague will be the night ones. The number of tourists then was already acceptable, so I could take my shots without being in a crowd.

Karl’s Bridge at Midnight

Back home after few days in Prague. Of course I took many photos and most of them bracketed for HDR :). So this week most (or all :)) photos will be from Prague. Let’s start with something really well know, the Karl’s Bridge. As I had no luck for clouds during the day, I was very happy that there were some at night. This photo was taken around midnight :)

In the past I had a lot of problems with my night shots. Usually the camera focused on everything, just not what I wanted, So this time (after years of having the camera) I used live view and manually focused all my night shots. I think the results are much better, than when I used auto-focus.

St. Peter and Paul’s Cathedral before sunset

Few weeks ago I posted a photo named “St. Peter and Paul’s Cathedral after sunset”. And this is the same cathedral, taken few hours earlier (so technically before sunset :) ). I like the night shot better, but I think they work also very nicely as a pair. I also have a photo from the inside of this cathedral, but I was still not able to make a nice HDR from it. This is mostly because the inner walls are white, and HDR process turns them into ugly grey ones. But I usually return to older shot, when I learn something new in my processing, so will definitely try again :)

St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral before sunset

and of course the mentioned photo, the after sunset one :)

St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral after sunset I couldn't hope for a better sky after the sunset, the broken up clouds, with this gorgeous colors. I was so satisfied :). This is the St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral (Katedrála sv. Petra a Pavla) in Brno, Czech republic. At first I took photos only during the day, but I had bad luck. A small group of tourists always moved, so they interfere with my shot. And when I moved away to a new place, they followed me. It was so annoying. So I decided to go back to the cathedral later on, and i had luck :). I was the only one there. HDR from three shots, taken with Canon 450D with Sigma 10-20mm lens, from a tripod.

Infrared

Looks like this week I’m adding all kinds of photos to this blog. We had HDR’s, macro, portrait and to finish how about an infrared shot :). I haven’t taken many infrared shots yet. I only have a filter, which makes taking them too hard, and the result are not that good. But I think this one came out quite nicely. Taken with Canon 450D with Sigma 18-50mm lens from a tripod.

In the street

I remember, when I bought a tripod, it was very strange for me to just go out and take photos from it. A tripod really attracts more attention than just a camera. Sometimes it even happens, that people stop by, because they want to know what I’m taking a photo off :). You really look more professional with a tripod :)
