Evening walk under the John Frost bridge

I really like to take photos of the John Frost bridge in Arnhem. And not only because I like photos of bridges in general. It’s just so colorful at night, with a perfect reflection. And you can even get under it.

I took this photo few years back. I was on a ship docked nearby and I had some time so I went to take few photos during the sunset. It was a bit of a strange walk. A short while after I took this photo, the two cars you can see in the distance, started drag racing. Not sure if that was the best location to do that, but luckily, as it was early in the year, there were very few ships there, and no one around. Still, not the smartest thing to do.

This is a blend from three exposures. I think it’s quite obvious that this was taken with a fish-eye lens. No, this is not a panorama, but I ended cropping it into a more wider aspect ratio. The sky was just boring and I had too much of the foreground, both taking away from the main part of the image, the bridge. Blended and edited in Photoshop.

Blue morning in Rotterdam

Today I tried to decide if I should go out to take photos or not. The clouds showed promise. In the end I decided to go and go up to the Old town hall tower to get some photos of the Christmas markets. And I really had luck with the sunset, as today it was just beautiful. But, I still have to edit the photos, so I show it to you probably tomorrow :)

And until then, here is a photo from the center of Rotterdam in Netherlands. I was on a ship there, that was docked not far away from this spot, so I decided to try some sunrise photos. And this was taken during the morning blue hour. This is a blend of three exposures, done in Photoshop.

Light tunnel in Amsterdam

Not that long ago I shared with you photos from the White night event in Bratislava. But of course this is not only done in Bratislava, and many cities have events with light inhalations. And last year before Christmas, when I was visiting Amsterdam, they also had few there.

This was a very cool light tunnel, where boats passes under all the time. It was quite short, but it also animated, so the effect was very nice. I did not take the boat, but I stood opposite from it, to get this panorama.

Was not easy to get this shot. The day was quite rainy, and the light difference between the light tunnel and the surrounding was huge. So what I did? I did a 2 shot panorama, each shot from 5 exposures. I corrected the photos in Lightroom, exported, merged into a panoramas in PTgui then merged them into a HDR in Oloneo Photoengine. Then I loaded all into Photoshop, and blended all together with original exposures. I probably used every blending mode I knew on this photo :)

Neon lights on the bridge

Let’s continue with another photo from my huge Lightroom catalog. This one was taken one cold early spring in the town of Arnhem near Amsterdam. The neon light on the John Frost bridge are quite strong and make for a very colorful view.

This is a two shot HDR vertorama. It’s not really tall, as I did the vertorama only because a little bit of the bridge was not visible in the shot from where I was standing. So here I did two sets of 5 brackets, exported all from Lightroom, combined into blend planes in PTgui Pro. Then I merged them into HDR in Oloneo Photoengine and finished with blending the HDR with the original shots in Photoshop. Just few steps really :)

Amsterdam center panorama

I took this panorama at the end of March earlier this year. It was during a quite crazy weekend. I went to Amsterdam for two days, and while I also had to go to a different city, I had to change my plans and stay in Amsterdam. So I had few hours free in the end, so I went out to take few photos.

But that was not as simple as I hoped. There was a football match that evening, so the whole city center was full of (very loud) groups of fans. Not the best moment to take photos. So I stayed in this spot in the Amsterdam center, where I could go down to the water, and avoid having them in the shot. Still behind me, the noise was horrible :)

This is a two shot panorama, combined in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop.
