Broken camera

While taking photos today, my camera broke. And it looks like that the same part went as on my old 450D, the shutter. So right now I have absolutely nothing to shoot with (until tomorrow when I will have a borrowed 7D for the time being :)). Of course I will have it repaired as soon as possible, but it also shows that it’s time to look for a new one. And if those Canon rumors I have been seeing recently I true, I already know what it will be :)

So much snow

I’ve been complaining for some time now, that there was no real winter this year. And today, the winter started. It has been snowing for almost the whole day, and of course I run out immediately to get some photos. Of course I didn’t get that many due to the camera problem I mentioned, but I at least got few. And here is one of the. The SNP bridge, almost completely hidden by all of the falling snow.

I took this only hand-held, as there was no reason for multiple brackets. This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop. And btw. this is not a black&white photo. I never did a conversion. It just looked like this with all the snow :)

So much snow

Technique: Photoshop edit, Number of exposures: 1, Camera Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Lens: Canon 24-70mm F2.8 IS II, Focal length: 43mm, Aperture: 6.3, Middle exposure time: 1/60s, ISO: 100, Tripod used: no, Location: 48.139510, 17.105172

Surprisingly, there is still snow in Bratislava today. I even went out, and took few shots, but nothing really spectacular, as it started snowing like crazy, and the lens was nonstop covered in water drops. But how about one where I was a little hidden in this windows in the Bratislava castle fortifications :)

This is manual blend from 3 exposures. Two focused on the bars with one focused on the city. All blended in together in Photoshop.
Framed bridge

As the weather in Bratislava is still quite horrible, I still have no new photos this year. And with no trip planed yet, there will probably be no new ones still for a while. So as usually, I’m editing photos that I already had, and for today, here is another one from the New years fireworks.

This is a single RAW edited in Oloneo Photoengine and Photoshop.
More fireworks

The weather does not really like me. Each time I stay at home, the sunset is just stunning. The moment I step out of the flat with my camera, it’s absolutely boring and uninteresting. Probably the only solution would be to move somewhere from where I have a great view, so I can shoot directly from the flat :) Same happened today, when I stopped by the Slavin war memorial, but ended with only few photos. Right when I got there a strong wind started, and since I was using a 200mm lens, it shaked the camera like crazy. That’s also why todays photo is only from one exposure.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Oloneo Photoengine, finished in Photoshop.

A Winter evening

I took this photo some time ago and never posted it. So I’m doing it today. It’s been more of an experiment, where I tried to see how much stars I could get right in the middle of a city. And thanks to a very clear sky, I actually got quite a lot.

This is a blend of 80 exposures, created in Photoshop.
