Destination Prague

As usually each spring,  tomorrow I’m leaving for a few days trip to Prague. Prague is so beautiful and gives so many photo opportunities, that I like to return there quite often. So from next week, you can expect again new Prague photos on the blog :)

St Martin’s Church

There is a very nice balcony (I will call it balcony, as I don’t know how to call it :)), right next to this church. It a great place from where to take a photo of the church, it’s just to close to the church. And as the church is quite high, it wont fit into one photo, even if taken at 16mm. So in the end I created a vertorama. And due to how close I was, it created quite a lot of distortions, but due to way it was taken, you can’t really remove it. You would just destroy the photo.

Having a river, lake or a canal in a city gives so many great opportunities for nice composition, all of them including reflections. And as Birmingham is the city with most water canals, it’s great for photos like this one :)

The Birmingham Reflection

I wanted to take a photo like this for a longer time, but haven’t been to a place that would be fitting. But the canals in Birmingham had a lot of places with bridges crossing the canal, so it was great for it. I actually wanted to take the shot by a second bridge (close to Hyatt hotel) but due to the walkway being very narrow and constant foot traffic in the area, I just could not setup my tripod there. But the next day and a little further away I succeed :)

Rainbow over Hyatt

Today I browsed into some of my much older photos :) This one is from my visit to Birmingham two years ago. So no tripod used, only 3 brackets and a worse camera :) Could have used improvements in all of these. You never know how much you will miss the extra brackets, once you need them. But as the Canon 450D only takes 3 on AEB, I had no other choice. I think it’s quite obvious what I was taking photo of here :). I don’t know why there was a rainbow, as it wasn’t raining that day..

Number 3

This is one of those places, where I want to go back to take some night shots. I was actually quite surprised when this photo got to the Flickr Explore front page. But that’s always a surprise :)

Completely calm water I was quite surprised, when I found these canals in Birmingam, UK. I wasn't expecting anything like these. But It was a very nice surprise, as they gave me some great reflections.HDR form three shots, taken with Canon 450D with Sigma 10-20mm lens, handheld.
