Surface Dial

I could not resit few weeks ago when I saw the surface dial in a store in Austria. I really nicely compliment the Surface Ergonomic Keyboard I use right now. Too back that the support for it in Photoshop is really lackluster right now.

I will use it for a while more, and they I try and put together a little review for the blog. Stay tuned :)

Sun over Normandy

For today, I have for you another photo from the American cemetery in Normandy. For this time, I was shooting right into the sun, to give a nice contrast to the shadows that the graves made on the ground. Taking photos directly into the sun sometimes works quite well, sometimes the photo is a disaster. I think here it worked out quite OK.

This is a two show vertorama, with the top photo being from two exposures.

Luminar for Windows Beta

For those who missed it, Luminar for Windows has entered a public beta stage, and you can join it right now. Head over to Macphun webpage and you can download a copy right now.

Vineyards all around

While in Portugal, I probably took more panoramas than normal photos. The landscape just asks for it. You look around, and it looks so beautiful, that its a shame to cut any part off. So today, another panorama from there.

This one was taken at the Quinta da Roeda. Its a panorama from two shots, each one from two exposures.

New category

I’m always happy when I can add a new category to the blog. Because that means that I visited a new city or even country. Few days ago I added Portugal, and today I’m also adding Porto. I do hope there will be more again soon :)

As always, you can see all the categories, in a dropdown on the bottom of every page on this blog.

Evening panorama of Porto

As I mentioned yesterday, I had another panorama for you. This one is a blue hour shot of Porto in Portugal. I took this shot from the walkway leading to the cable car station. From what I seen, this is probably the best place to get a nice shot of the center of the city. Of course I got lock in there, as the closed the gates, while I was still there. Luckily, they are only waist high, and it was not that hard to climb over them. Strangely, nobody cared, that I, and few other people, were still there.

For this photo, I took 4 bracketed series, each one consisting of 5 exposures. I used PTgui to merge them into blend planes, and then blended them in Photoshop. Still, this photo is only 46Mpix, as I did quite a big overlap.

Blue flowers at the Eiffel tower

I had another shot ready from Portugal for today, but I thought I will post it tomorrow instead, as it’t another panorama. So I chosen a vertorama for today. This one is of course of the Eiffel tower in Paris.

I wanted to hide the big amount of people here (you can still see them a bit on the bottom right) and have this nice patch of blue flowers in the foreground. So I put my camera really low to the ground, to get closer and that also took vertorama, to get the full Eiffel tower in the shot.

This is a vertorama from two exposure, combined in Lightroom, edited in Photoshop.

I’m back

Wow, was June busy for me. I have been to Hungary, Austria, Portugal, Spain, France and with a quick stop in Netherlands. I seen a lot, I took a lot of pictures and I have a lot to share with you. So if I don’t have to leave again soon, I’m back to updating the blog. So hear goes :)

The landscape of Portugal

Let me start with a nice huge panorama from Portugal. The scenery there is just stunning. The weather on the other side, was like from hell. 40-45 degrees every day, with little breeze and no clouds. I really had “luck” going there when there was a crazy heat wave all over Europe. And to tell the truth, I don’t really like heat that much. Maybe next to the ocean, but really not inland.

And since the landscape was so spectacular, I ended up taking many more panoramas than I usually do. So there will be more of those. For those curious, here is also a bigger version, where you can see the detail of this photo better.

This is a panorama fro 5 shots, combined in Lightroom, edited in Photoshop. The total size is 65Mpix. This photos was taken in the hill above Barca d’Alva in Portugal.
