HIGH-RESOLUTION WALLPAPERS

Let’s continue with another photo from the Grossglockner High Alpine Road in the Alps in Austria. For this one, I walked to one of the little huts there (where I believe you can book a stay) and took this shot while including the railing in front of it. I used a f22 here, as I wanted to have as much of the scenery sharp, while still also having the railing in focus.

This is a HDR from 2 exposures created in Oloneo Photoengine, blended with a third exposure in Photoshop.

Mountain view

Technique: Oloneo Photoengine, Number of exposures: 3, Camera Model: Sony a7R + Metabones Adapter ver. IV, Lens: Canon 16-35mm F2.8, Focal length: 16mm, Aperture: 22, Middle exposure time: 1/25s, ISO: 100, Tripod used: yes, Location: 47.123663, 12.830379

Here is my first photo from the DJI phantom 3 Pro. The quality is a little all over the place, as it was my fist flight, and I focused more on that than on the camera. It needed a little more setup, as for this the auto used a F2.8 and 1/350 of a second, and the photos just weren’t that sharp. Still a lot to learn :) Also, this is a two shot panorama, I just rotated the drone a little and took a second photo.
Btw. flying with the DJI is a lot of fun and its quite easy, just don’t forget to update the firmware, as it will refuse to start without that (and you have to be by a pc to update)

Learning to fly

Technique: Photoshop edit, Number of exposures: 2×1, Camera Model: DJI Phantom 3 Profesional, Focal length: 3.61mm, Aperture: 2.8, Middle exposure time: 1/350s, ISO: 100, Tripod used: yes, Location: 48.164531, 17.169800

I really like reflections in my photos. But getting a reflection from a river is really quite hard. Especially if the river is used for a lot boat traffic or is just moving too fast. While the part of Danube in Vienna, I was standing here next to is not so busy, still, I could not get the reflection I wanted. So instead of trying to get it there, I moved a little back, right next to this big puddle, which created a perfect one :)

This is a HDR from 4 exposures, created in Oloneo Photoengine, finished in Photoshop.

A puddle reflection

Technique: Oloneo Photoengine, Number of exposures: 4, Camera Model: Sony a7R + Metabones Adapter ver. IV, Lens: Canon 16-35mm F2.8, Focal length: 22mm, Aperture: 7.1, Middle exposure time: 4s, ISO: 200, Tripod used: yes, Location: 48.212331, 16.384016

One of the things I planed for a while now, was to get myself a drone. I just love taking photos from up high, and this makes it a little bit easier to get that high. I choose the DJI Phantom 3 Profesional that was released recently. It should give quite the good results, while still being affordable. Now I have to go through the manual first, as I never owned a drone before, so there is a lot to learn. Actually I flown one few months ago, but that’s no replacement for learning how to do it exactly :)

So over time, there should be some photo from it on the blog, and for today, few photos from the unboxing.

And here you can see all that was in the box: the drone with the camera and battery (surprisingly, there is no cover on the camera lens), 4 pairs of blades, manual, remote, charger and accesories box.

Yes, I stopped under the bridges while being in Basel. I just like this kind of composition :) Also due to recent heat wave, the rivers in Europe are quite low, and you can see that here. Even the place I was standing on, was under water when I visited last time.

This is a HDR from 3 exposures, created in Oloneo Photoengine, merged with a 4th exposure, taken at a higher ISO, to remove the moving ships.
