Where was this photo taken?

Every-time I post a photo, I also include a small map, which shows the location from where the photo was taken. So if you want to take a similar photo you can look at it. To view the map, you have to open the post with the photo you are interested in. To do this just click on the post name, or click on “read more” under the photo. The map will be shown under the photo. To view the map bigger, just click on the Google logo, and it will open the map in new window, centered on the photo spot.

The Scott Monument

I always thought that it was called the Scottish monument, just when I researched photo spots in Edinburgh I found out I was wrong. But it could be called the Scottish monument, as it really of of those things that you immediately notice when you are there :) I took this photo quite late in the evening, and as I was waiting for the shots to be taken a girl passed behind me and said “That will be a nice photo” and continued walking. And I have to agree with her :)

London City hall

As you have probably already noticed, most of the photo I’m posting from the Uk trip, are blue hour and night shots. The reason is simple. When the weather is ugly, you get very little color in day shots, as the sky is grey. But as night shots are lighten mostly be city lights, which are more yellow, you get much more color in the photos. The only problem is, that is so cold in the evenings, that you wont be shooting for too long. And as it take more than a minute to take a single series, you be standing and doing nothing for a while, which does not help either :). But it’s much better that having no good photos at all.

Testing out the Radian

As I mentioned few days before, I recently recieved my Radian time-lapse device, and yesterday I took it out first tine, and here is a compilation of few short clips I took. It’s only a rought edit, so don’t expect anything spectacular :) I still have to learn so much more about video editing :)

Sunset in Edinburgh

Each city should have something like this. A nice hill in the middle of a city, from where you get a great view of the city. Would make cityscape shots so much easier :)

So my facebook page is slowly approaching 4000 fans. If you want to help me get there sooner, head over to www.facebook.com/hdrshooter and become a fan :)

Passing red buses

In reality it’s only one bus, but used from multiple exposures :). I actually used exposures from two series here, one because I wanted the bus in the shot and a second series so I had no people in the shot. And it worked out nicely.

This shot is a manual blend from 6 exposures. Taken on the Tower bridge in London.

Having a river, lake or a canal in a city gives so many great opportunities for nice composition, all of them including reflections. And as Birmingham is the city with most water canals, it’s great for photos like this one :)
