Cloudy sunset in Budapest

Not the most colorful of sunsets. The cloudy sky made the photos look really grey. I punched the color a little, but I don’t want to go further, as it will look unrealistic to me. At least the view was nice :)

Bratislava city center

I love it when I have two such contrasting colors in one photo. Like in this one, blue and red. This is of course another photo from top of the New bridge. They are actually going to rename the bridge soon. I have no idea whats the point of doing this, as all people are used to call it the New bridge. Probably just some politician has to show that he is doing something. Really pointless.

Inside the Matthias Church

Very nice and detailed church this is. Too bad it’s currently under reconstruction, so what you see here is almost everything what is not covered up. Everything else looked like a construction site.

Destination Prague

So another weekend, another trip. This time it to Prague. And as the last days were warm and very sunny, the weather during the weekend will probably be horrible. Let’s see :)

Flickr Explore

So in the last week I got 4 photos into Flickr explore selection, and I didn’t even noticed :). But the fifth got to number 26 and I noticed. It was this one Calling Batman. I noticed that a lot of people react if you give your photo a funny name, I have to do this more often.

Fisherman’s Bastion

Too bad it was closed, but still it looked like a fairy tale castle. I waited in front of it until there were no people and took this shot. I had to do a lot of retouching, as I had to remove all trees from the boarders of this shot, because of the heavy wind. I keep the colors quite soft, as it was a clouded and colorless evening and I don’t want the photo to look unnatural.

I also did a little lens correction on this photo. I was standing quite close to the Bastion, because of a construction side fence behind me, so it distorted the photo quite a lot. I don’d do this usually, as I don’t mind the distortion, but it helped to remove unwanted branches from the corners of the photo.

Using my photos

I’m a big fan of Creative Commons license, and I encourage people to share my photos. I want my photos to be seen. But there are some people, that don’t understand, that Creative Commons and free is not the same.  I hate seeing a photo of mine on a commercial page, where the author of the page even takes credit for that photo. I think it’s really disrespectful to me and my work.

So for those who don’t know what Creative Commons means. You can (if you include my name and a link to my page):

  • download my photos
  • share them on your Facebook page, Pinterest etc.
  • use them in posts on your blog
  • use them in compilation posts (for instance.. 20 nice churches in HDR and similar..)

but you can’t

  • share my photos without giving me the proper credit
  • share my photos on your company’s page (even if the subject of the photo is yours, you still don’t have the rights to the photo)
  • use them for any commercial purpose, brochure, banner and similar
If you want to use them for commercial purposes, you should contact me and a licensing fee has to be paid. I have dealt with different companies and always we found an agreement, so everyone is satisfied. If you are not sure if it’s OK to use my photo for what you need, just send me a mail and usually I reply within a day. I’m against using watermarks as I think they destroy the overall look of the photo. Let’s hope there is no need for them :)

The rainy evening in Budapest

Such a lovely bridge this is, I could spend days just taking photos of it. Same with all the other bridges in Budapest. I already know that I will return to Budapest again this year, when the weather is better, so I can take more shots of them :)

I had quite the problem with white balance on this one. The combination of lights and rain made the photo completely yellow and I had to push it down a lot to make it usable. This was first time I tried shooting while it was raining, as my old camera was not weatherproof. The result were quite surprising to me, to see how the rain changed the resulting image.
