One more reflection

This photo is exactly from the same spot as the one I posted yesterday, with also the editing I done being the same. The view from this spot of the Palm Jumeirah is really nice, one would just need a bit more luck for clear weather, as the city is really not that close. The haze on the horizon makes a bit hard to see so far away.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Dubai Internet city

One more evening shot, taken from the Palm Jumeirah. The Dubai Internet city is quite a new area close to it, and from the palm you get a nice view of it. And with a bit of Photoshop help, you will also have a nice reflection :) If you want to know the spot, this is taken from the right end of the palm, from this spot to be exact.

This is a two shot blend, done in Photoshop. I used a second shot only to darken the bright light on the towers a bit. Then I did a reflection, and you can see a guide on how to do it here.

Night view of the Burj Al Arab

You may have noticed that most of my recent Dubai shot are night one. The reasons here are multiple, but mostly two. During the day, the weather was crazy sunny, with a lot of haze, which did not really work well for photos. On the other hand, the sunrise and especially blue hours were crazy short, in the range of 15 minutes only. Really hard to get many shots, if you do around 30s exposures. But since Dubai is so lit up, you can take photos during the whole night anyway :)

For today’s photo I zoomed in all the way while taking photos of Palm Jumeirah (the panorama I posted few days ago) while looking to the right. I wanted to include more of the city here, but was not able to extent the camera out enough from the balcony, to not see the wall of the skyscraper I was taking photos from.

This is a single exposure, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Dubai Marina in 2018 vs. 2014

As I said yesterday, Dubai and Dubai marina change a lot. And today’s photo will shot this change. I took a very similar panorama from the Palm Jumeirah, as I did 4 years ago, when I was in Dubai. This is a huge panorama. To be clear, the reflection is fake, created in Photoshop. You can’t get a clear reflection in a sea, it just moves to much.

You can nicely see how the spaces between the skyscrapers fill up with other skyscrapers and the new wheel is just crazy bit :) Actually you can also see how my editing style change in the last 4 years here. This new photo is a 4 exposure panorama stitched in Lightroom, finished in Photoshop.

You can see a bigger version of the 2018 photo here and the 2014 photo here (please right click the links a choose open in a new tab to see the photo full size). You can also see a zoomable version of the 2014 one here.

Updates to the Top photography spots in Dubai

Dubai changes so much. While all other Top photography pages on this blog are still relevant, the Dubai one is out of date. And since I visited most of the spots during my last trip, I started with an update. It is already partially done, but I need to edit few more photos from other spots, to finish it. Still, its more factual right now, than it was yesterday :) Check it out here: Top photography spots Dubai.

Looking down in the JLT

I don’t usually carry the fish eye lens with me. It’s great when I need to do a 360 degree photo, but not for much else. But since I had it with me the evening I was in the JLT area in Dubai. So of course I took few photos with it :)

This is a two shot blend done in Photoshop.
